Frequently Asked Questions - Court Ordered Visitations

Please reach us at grandmassvms@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

There are 3 steps to the process of initiating services to the first Supervised Visit.

  • Reaching out to a Professional Supervised Visitation Monitor - Either the Non-custodial parent, Custodial parent or Attorney contacts the Professional Supervised Monitor either by phone, text or email, from a list of monitors provided by the court, attorney or either parent searching for a Professional Monitor via the internet or referral.
  • Intake process - which can take anywhere from 2 days to 7 days to complete. This needs to be completed before the final step.
  • First Professional Supervised Visit Professional Supervised Monitor co-ordinates with both Custodial and Non-Custodial parent in regards to setting up scheduled visits. Times, Dates and places for visits.

  • No matter who you choose if this step is skipped or visits are started without completing this process.  Please do not proceed. This is one of the MOST important steps of the process other than  the Professional Supervision Monitored Visits.

Generally the non-custodial parent (NCP) is the first parent to reach out to a Professional Supervised Monitor.  Once a party has reached out and decided to go with a particular Professional Supervised Monitor the next steps are. (for this purpose we will assume two factors 1. that you have decided to go with Grandmas Supervised Visitation Monitors and Services (GSVMS) and it is the NCP who is the initiator of services) However the overall process is the same with any Professional Supervised Visitation Monitor you go with.

  • NCP will send Grandma Supervised Visitation Monitors (GSVMS) the intake fee, along with their email and phone number, they will also supply the Custodian's (CP) contact information either email, phone or their attorneys information.
  • Once intake fee is received GSVMS will send via email NCP an email outlining what paperwork that they need to be returned to them and attach a number of files for NCP to fill out, sign, date and return in PDF format. Unless it is a photo and a JPG file will do. Included in the email will be a due date for all forms to be filled out, signed, dated and returned.
  • GSVMS will reach out to the Custodial (CP) to introduce themselves, this will be done via phone, text and or email depending on the contact information that was given to GSVMS.
  • Once GSVMS has contacted the CP and introduced themselves  a brief email will be sent with forms to be filled out, signed and a request for forms to be sent back also. This email will have a due date for all forms to be filled out, signed dated and returned to GSVMS via .pdf file format, unless it is a photo then .jpg format is acceptable.
  • Once all forms  are received by GSVMS, an intake interview will be set up via Zoom
  • Each parent will be scheduled individually for a 30 minute to 45 minute Zoom call.  This Zoom intake needs to be in a private area as sensitive questions and answers will be asked.  When conducting the intake interview with the CP the monitor might arrange a five to  ten minute introduction to the minor/s and dependent on the age of the minor/s this will either be in a private area or with the CP present.
  • Based of the intake paperwork, Court Order and everyone's schedule  GSVMS will coordinate with both parents the schedule for Professional Supervised Visitations to include arrival times of NCP and location, arrival time of CP to drop-of, pick-up of minors, time of visit and end of visit, location of visit.

GSVMS will coordinate between the Non-Custodial Parent (NCP) and the Custodial Parent (CP) the following

  • Visit dates - Based off the Court Order and coordination of schedules for all involved with Professional Supervised Monitored Visits.
  • Visit locations - since GSVMS does not have a facility, visit locations will be coordinated, based on the ability to monitor visits in accordance to the agreement signed by both parties and the Standards of practice as set out by the Judicial Council Rules of the Court.
  • Times of visit - Non-custodial parent is required to be at visit location that is confirmed by GSVM no later than 15 minutes prior to start of visit.  Custodial parent is required to be at visit location between 15 mins to 5 minutes before actual start time of visit to enable the Monitor to take charge of minor/s and be with NCP at the start time.  Monitor will let NCP know 30 minutes before end of visit time to enable Monitor and minor/s to leave the NCP at least 5 minutes before end of visit to enable monitor and minor/s to be at the pick up point at visit end time.
  • Schedule  - GSVMS highly recommends a set schedule for visits dates and times, this enables all to have consistency for visits.

GSVMS treats all visits as if there is a Restraining Order (RO) and therefore neither parent should not be in the same spot as each at any given time.  The Professional Supervised Monitor will escort the minor/s to and from each parent.
